Face Products of 2018…

I feel like I’ve said this before, but I am lazy when it comes to looking after my skin. Lord knows I didn’t do it any favours by eating a boatload of chocolate and drinking very little water in December…and throughout the start of this month. So to try to win it back over I have been using a few beauty products in the hope I can revive it.

• The Tea Tree 3 in 1 Wash, Scrub, Mask (The Body Shop £8.50)
I bought this back in November, when there was a 3 for 2 offer on at The Body Shop. I was first looking for a face mask, as I’d already picked up a exfoliator and a cleanser, but the fact that this wasn’t just a face mask was brilliant for me as like I’ve said I am lazy when it comes to this. So depending on how much time I have I’ll either wash my face with this, or instead I’ll put in on while I’m having a bath and effectively leave it on longer then I actually should. Either way it is now my go to, anything with Tea Tree is good for your skin anyway!

• T-zone Charcoal Black Peel Off Mask (Home Bargains…£1.99 possibly £0.99…either way it was a bargain 😏)
Following on with another face mask, for a while I couldn’t scroll through Facebook without seeing a video where someone had one of these on. Following the hype I decided to get one, but without splurging so I went to where everyone goes for a cracking deal…home bargains. It’s affordable and effectively does the job. Leave it on a little too long though and you will feel like your skin is being ripped off…does remove blackheads though!

• Soap & Glory: 3 in 1 Daily Vitamin C Facial Wash (Boots £8.00 or 3 for 2 if your feeling it 😉)
I feel like this is one of the products to just throw on your face whenever it needs a little pick me up (which at the minute is nearly every day). And as soon as you’ve done it, your skin is already feeling so much lighter and fresh. Hats off to soap and glory, they really know what they’re doing! Even the smell of it is incredible…not to mention I like my 3 in 1 products!

• Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser (Superdrug £3.45 on special offer at the minute!)
Oh look another charcoal product, who’d have thought it. This is a cleanser for the days you need a little extra help, when you feel your skin is a little bit more clogged then usual…hence it being a ‘deep’ cleanser. It works into a nice foam and makes your face tingle while it works, just incase that’s important to you. Definitely a great product if you feel like your pores clog up easily.

• Sudocrem (Superdrug £2.49)
Ahh sudocrem, where would I be without you. I’ve used this so much in January, and in the early years of my life when I had eczema that I’m surprised I havent built up an immunity to it by now. It’s just an all round product. There’s nothing this can’t do…other then make me look good when I leave it sitting on my face…having big white dots on your face just isnt a good look for anyone. I will always be thankful of this product.

• Anew Vitale Day & Night Cream (Avon £14.00 each 😓 I know…I just wait for the special offers!)
I’ve actually been using these since about March 2017. It’s very on and off though, seen as I’m very forgetful when it comes to applying them…even if they’re right next to me I still forget. However on the weeks when I use these religiously I can tell a difference. According to Avon, the guideline age to start applying these is 25 (I started using them at 23) but I figure you can never start to early if you want to look good at 75 still. The only thing that hurts me about this is the price of them (I’m tight I know) but like I say I keep my eyes peeled for the deals!

So they’re the range of beauty products I’ve used on my face so far in 2018, the only thing I havent really found is a product for dark eye circles (not a necessity, but always a desired product) so if anyone has any suggestions for those please feel free to leave them in the comments. Thanks for reading!

How to know when to walk away…

Firstly I’ll start with a little note, that I originally wrote this 3 maybe even 4 years ago. I had a relationship that started off absolutely amazing. To be completely honest it was my first real relationship, and the first and possibly the only time I have ever been completely and utterly smitten in love to the point where it literally engulfed me. And even now some of the memories from this relationship are some of the best memories I have. I may also add that I am still friends with this person as some bonds you create in life, will never be broken…saying that during some relationships it gets to the point where everything changes and that’s really what I want to talk about. I was reminded of this note I wrote down all them years ago when I found out one of my close friends was going through the same things as I did. So basically this is about that and knowing when it really is time to walk away. (Ok what started off as a little note, became a long one as I realised I had more to say about it then I thought…now onto the actual blog post.)

In life, we have relationships. Relationships with family, friends and partners. No matter who that relationship is with, it will go in waves. There will be good times and bad times…But there’s a clear difference between them. With family, you can’t really walk away from them. Because no matter what they will always be there, that’s what family does. For friends, sure we can walk away from them but it’s hard, and most of the time the problems can be rectified and within a week you’re friends again. But the one that’s the hardest is the partner relationships. Especially if you’re the one that cares the most. Your going to get hurt eventually, over and over again depending on how long you stay in that relationship. So eventually there will come a point where you have to be strong and walk away, because it’s got to the point where they feel like poison to you.

The hardest bit about this point is the mental torment that goes around in your head during it. When times are bad it’ll feel like your heart is repeatedly being ripped out of your chest, blended and then shoved back in there which is excruciating. But in between all of this there will be moments that are so sweet…probably just how they used to be, which will give you so much hope. Hope that things will one day be the same again, because deep down you love them unconditionally…and that’s the breaking point. The vicious cycle. Where you really have to think are the bad times over weighing the good one’s now. Of course it will be difficult at first, in fact forget that, it’ll be difficult for as long as it takes. Heck it took me over a year even after we’d split up, but that was because I didn’t completely remove myself from the situation and we were clearly seeing things differently. For him it was harmless doing thing we used to as a couple, but for me it was verging on manipulation of feelings. But anyway in long run you will without a doubt be so much better off, and some extent so much stronger for getting through it. What you’ve got to remember is that you aren’t the first person to feel like this and sadly you won’t be the last…probably even people close to home have been through a similar thing. Stay strong.

Music and Men

The other day I was in my car driving for about an hour with the radio on. On the radio the station was going though a variety of songs from the last few years, when the realisation hit that there was a number of songs that linked to my past. To be more precise they linked to men of my past.

You see memories are a funny thing. When they are created they can be linked to the silliest things like a certain scent or a location…but for me it seems to be music. I listen to music a lot. So when I listen to certain songs, sometimes the lyrics seem to fit the current situation perfectly and therefore the song then links to that person…or it could just be a case that the song was popular at that time and the radio played it constantly while I was around them.

Anyway like songs, men come and go through life. I guess it just depends if they turn out to be a one hit wonder or a classic that never gets old. But no matter what, when a certain song from the past hits my ears, the memories will play over in my mind of my relationship with that person. In some ways it’s good, and in some ways its bad…but memories are memories. Sometimes it’s nice to look back at what once was…

I wonder if anyone reading this knows their song…heck I wonder what songs people would link to me!

“The past is a good place to visit, but certainly not a good place to stay.”

A night at the cinema…

I don’t know wether it’s due to my heart being a gentle soul or the fact that I’m a girl and we have a lot of hormones…or it could be just down to the genes I’m made up from. But for me going to the cinema or the theatre is a rollercoaster…when it comes to emotions at least.

Depending on what film or performance you go to see, you can experience love, passion, anger, fear, amusement, and of course sadness…all within the space of a couple of hours! When you think about it, all of them emotions you have just experienced is a bit like the emotions you could feel over a two year relationship…which in my opinion is pretty impressive to say the least. The ability to manipulate your feelings, to apply it to the current situations of the main character. Not to mention you could do it all over again the following day or even the following week. Learning a new story everytime, through observing other’s lives (well, acted out lives). Experiencing all of that through emotions, basically without the actual impact of drama of it all.

It’s all pretty incredible…but of course if we only ever lived through films and performances, then we’d never really allow ourselves the chance to actually live. Which you know, is what life is really about. Living, experiencing, feeling. Let’s be honest though…It’s perfect if you need an escape for a hour or two.

You smell good!

On a recent shopping trip I came across a bargain. A bargain so good I just couldn’t keep it to myself. So I love Zara, but what I like most about it is the fact that you can get some amazing items for a low price…for example t-shirt’s! I bought a short-sleeved stripes t-shirt from there the other day which is super soft, and it was only £5.99!

Anyway that’s a different story. The bargain of this story is perfume. While I was in Zara I was drawn over to the perfume section, spraying every scent on me in any space of my body I could find that I hadn’t already used. Anyway so even though they were only £9.99 I just couldn’t decide between them all. Until. I found the holy grail of Zara perfume. It was a pack of two 100ml bottles for just £12.99. Oh. My. God. What was previously a day of unfulfilled shopping hopes and dreams, was now a day to rejoice.  So the two that I got in the pack are called ‘Femme’ and ‘Twilight Mauve’…and they smell amazing!

Anyway so in light of these amazing perfumes, I thought I’d round this blog up with my TOP 5 favourite perfumes (in no particular order):

1.  Hugo Boss – Deep Red
2. Marc Jacobs – Dot
3. Next – Just Pink
4. Stradivarius – Cosy Vanilla
5. Next – Femme/Twilight Mauve

If you have any recommendations of perfumes you think I should try please leave them below in the comments. Thanks! Oh and what are you waiting for? Get yourself to Zara!

My hair saviour!

Ok so for me there’s not many hair products that impact me that much that I keep going back…but Aussie, now this is something I will always go back to.

I first discovered Aussie when I was at Uni. My hair was very damaged due to dyeing it so much since I was 13, to the point where ‘good condition’ was a distant memory. So being the girl I am (who had recently received her student loan), I went to Boots and basically picked up anything I could in the hope of restoring my hair’s health. Hair masks, deep conditioners, hair oil…basically anything and everything. Among these products was my hair holy grail! The Aussie 3 minute miracle reconstructor.

So basically after trying most of the other products and having very little results, I decided that this product would be the next I tried so one day after work I decided to chuck some on my hair while it was still dry and sit with it on for about 10-15 minutes. Best. Decision. Ever. My hair felt so much better already! It only took a couple more times to get it back to a good condition, and it felt amazing.

However that wasn’t the most impressive rescue mission from this product. The second time, it saved me from the Blue lagoon (I know the saying is the black lagoon but I literally mean the blue lagoon…in Iceland). Anyone who has been to the blue lagoon, knows that if you get your hair wet it can damage it…massively. Its something to do with certain levels in the water being high which causes your hair to stiffen, and therefore you should use loads of condition when you get out…which I didn’t do, as I was unaware of this at the time. Anyway so as soon as we got home I basically did the same thing that I did while I was at university, and hey presto the miracle that is Aussie prevailed again!

So basically this is now my go to hair product, and I would personally recommend it to anyone!

My Beauty Routine!

So over the Christmas holidays, (like any girl does) I received some beauty products. Which means now I have a full beauty routine 💁🏼. So here’s a list of what I use on a weekly basis and when I use it.

My Morning Routine:

Ok so in a morning I’m normally just heading straight to work, and to be honest when it comes to beauty I’m quite low maintenance (hence why I haven’t had a beauty routine till now). So all I’ll really do is wash my face with my soap & glory vitamin C facial wash. It’s dermatologically tested which means it doesn’t affect my eczema during a flare up, it’s a three in one so it does everything my face needs doing to it all in one go, and to top it off it smells pretty damn good. A perfect way to set up my day really…for my skin at least.

Soap & Glory – Vitamin C Facial Wash

The second and last thing I do in a morning before applying my make up is of course applying a moisturiser. This actually came with the facial wash in a pack…and so far they are working really well together. At the minute I have a little bit of flaky skin on my face (due to my eczema) and its’ keeping it in check to be honest. It’d probably help more if I didn’t wear my make-up on top, but god forbid I scare off any customers at work.

My Evening Routine:

Ok so if I have a free evening where I need a bit of TLC I’ll do more of a ‘in depth’ beauty routine. On average I’ll only do this about three times a week at most…mainly because I don’t want to clog my skin up and I like to give it a bit of a break…oh and I’m lazy.

So first up I’ll use a cleanser. I’ll normally use this first to take my make up off and just give my face a good wash. I’ve had this since before christmas, and basically it does what it says. It removes any dirt or make-up without leaving my face shiny with leftover product. It says the product is for combination to oily skin, but even though my face is a bit more on the dry side it never leaves my face damaged or dry.

The Body Shop – Seaweed Cleanser

Next I’ll use a exfoliator by Nivea. I’ve always found that Nivea is good for sensitive skin and after using it at a friend’s house I decided to purchase it and work it into my routine. I can’t fault it, if my skin ever starts playing up it calms it down pretty quickly. Not only that but it leaves my skin feeling smooth and fresh. I’ve also tried the men’s version of this and to be honest I actually think I like it more.

Nivea – Exfoliating Scrub

After that, to finish off I’ll apply some of my seaweed toner from the body shop. I have to admit it wasn’t until I asked that woman working in the body shop, that I even knew what it was. Basically it helps restore the oils in your face, which have been taken out by cleansing and exfoliating. I still don’t really know how it works, but my skin seems to be doing very well since I started using it, so I can’t really say anymore on that.

The Body Shop – Seaweed Toner

Back onto moisturiser. In the past I’ve put moisturisers on before going to bed, and the same thing always happens. I’ll wake up the next morning with all of the product on the surface of my skin, just hovering there. So I decided to go into superdrug and ask the advice of  someone who worked in the beauty section. Basically she said that it might be a case that a serum would work better for my skin as a serum goes 2 or 3 layers below the skin level meaning it absorbs better. Which she was right, I chose the vitamin E moisturiser over the others due to it being a good protection barrier for people with eczema, and its perfect. Sometimes I’ll use this alone, other times I’ll use it before I use the next product depending on how dry my skin is.

Superdrug – Vitamin E Moisture Serum

Next is the night cream, which like I say I’ll sometimes use right after the previous one if my skin needs an extra boost. It basically does everything that the previous serum does with the extra antioxidants to protect my skin and keep it hydrated.

And that’s it! Now I may be good having a routine, but I’m not that good that I do it everyday. But to be honest like I  say I wouldn’t like to do it everyday…and I’m too lazy anyway (did I mention that?). But yeah…we’re getting there! 😁

Best Fashion Buys Of 2016 So Far…

Ok so this is part two to a blog I did a couple of weeks ago listing the best beauty buys, now were back for my top ten list of best fashion buys so far. So here we go…

IMG_93571.Crop Top’s – This year I’ve come to the realisation that my body doesn’t look as bad as I seemto think,so I’ve decided to be a bit more confident with what I wear so this means getting the dreaded stomach out. These are unbelievably cheap but the quality is amazing. Highly recommend. *£3.99 Zara.*

IMG_69332. Soft Bra’s – Sometime’s a girl needs more options than just the structured bra’s for one’s ‘possessions’. As the title suggests, these are a soft bra for days when your boobs have just had enough of being restricted. There’s also a variety of colours. *£12.99 (for a pack of two) H&M.*

IMG_69003. White Converse – A basic necessity for a wardrobe. They’re comfy, they go with pretty much everything, and as an added bonus they’re one of the few items of clothing that
actually looks better dirty. Win win situation. *£45.00 Office.*

IMG_93594. Red Raincoat – I’d been searching for one of these for ages, I needed a light jacket that was rainproof for those amazing rainy summers we get in England. And this is perfect, it’s
light, showerproof and has a sleek shiny look to it. *£19.99 Zara.*

IMG_69515. Black Lace-up Heels – I’d seen a few people wearing heels like these but I was too tight to buy any for the prices I’d seen, until I found them in Primark. They have a chunky heel, just incase you’re not as confident with heels…especially on a
night out and you can make them as tight or as loose as you want due to the laces. *£15.00 Primark.*

IMG_93606.Black Tassel Bag – I found this in the sale, and it’s turned out to be such a great find! It has two main sections, and it can be used as an over the shoulder
bag or even a big clutch bag. It’s now used on a day-to-day basis. *£6 Topshop.*

IMG_93647. Topshop Jamie Jeans – Who doesn’t own a pair of jeans. At the moment I’m favouring these over any others. They’re high-waisted so it holds in any flab no one wants to know about and so far they don’t seem to lose their shape, even after multiple washes.*£16 (on sale) Topshop.*

IMG_93588. Taco Shirt – Who doesn’t need a shirt with random stuff on? It’s great for a casual day. It’s simple and basic and I love it.*£5.99 Stradivarius.*

IMG_93619. H&M Watch – I’m a bit of a watch fiend, and for a while I’d been looking for a watch similar to the Casio watches…when I came across this. At first I didn’t expect it to have a
lot of the features that it does due to it being a bit like a dupe of the Casio watches. But after I got it out of its box I was pleasantly surprised, and it’s a bit more unusual due to the pattern on it.*£14.99 H&M.*

IMG_936210. Four Leaf Clover Necklace – What kind of girl can resist a sparkly bit of jewellery? Let’s be honest my collection, until I saw this. It’s so pretty and with it being in the shape of a
four leaf clover, part of me hopes it will bring me some
luck!*£8.99 The Gift Company.*

That’s all for now, see you in the next one…

Small Changes…

Although I said I wouldn’t be creating a list of new years resolutions, there is a couple of small things I’d like to try to do this year. I won’t class them as resolutions as they will just be on going improvements. Anyway here goes…

  1. Wear heels more – as a small girl I will always need more height, and what better way to solve this than with fancy shoes or boots! Also they of course add to the sex appeal…not.
  2. Not be on my phone as much – in today’s world we as a whole are anti social or ‘zombie-like’ if you will. So I think this is a good way to begin reconnecting with the world again.
  3. Go out more – I’ve never really been a drinker, but I’ve come to the realisation that I’m only young once. Also as the years go on my body won’t react as well with alcohol as it does when your younger…or so I’ve heard.
  4. Sing – I love to sing! Let it be known not very well, but what’s that to stop me. Confidence can pull off anything. Well almost everything.
  5. Save money! – Travelling isn’t cheap, and seen as it’s one of the things I want to do this year…I really need to save money.
  6. Try and find the perfect foundation – this is a constant battle. I hate spending money on something that never matches. They either dry my face out or turn me into a Oompa Loompa and that’s just not a good look!
  7. Use my camera more! – I love taking photos, I even took the time to set up a Facebook page for it…but I just don’t take enough photos. So from now on I’m going to just go on random walks every so often, plus it means I get to see the hidden areas of lovely Yorkshire!
  8. Listen to more music – I like a bit of everything when it comes to music, but it’s quite rare I just put my iPod on anymore. To add to this I’m also going to try to keep up to date with new music because I always seem to be a hundred years behind everyone else and never know new bands names.
  9. Let go – I try not to do this a lot but there just certain things I can’t seem to let go of, so its time. As Elsa says “let it go”
  10. Don’t over think! – This is just a constant battle as a girl. For some reason we all just seem to have a tendency to think way to far into everything so this year, I’m going to aim to just roll with everything and not think as much…we’ll see how that pans out.

LETS DO IT!
