Packing…

Okay so basically I’m off to Poland in 2 days, and this is the most unprepared for a trip I’ve ever been and to be honest….it upsets me. So to avoid any more procrastination I’m basically going to write a list on a blog…in the added hope that it means I won’t forget anything for the trip.

But before that here’s a few details! I’m going to Krakow with my oldest friend for five days, our aim is mainly to soak up the history of Poland with Auschwitz being at the top of our list. We’ve rented an apartment from a man off Airbnb which will be a new experience for me, so I hope it goes smoothly. It’s located just outside the city centre which means we will be doing quite a bit of walking (which I like anyway). And I’ve been keeping an eye on the weather which seems to be varying between 2 and -2 degrees celsius so some warm clothes will be essential as I’m cold majority of the time anyway. Ok so let’s start.

Toiletries:
Toothbrush (Obviously, can’t get anywhere without that)
Toothpaste
Deodorant
Perfume (Not a necessity but I like to smell like a flower)
Shampoo (Aussie, only the best)
Condition (Aussie again, I’m slightly obsessed)
Shower Gel (Shop and Glory…duh!)

Clothes:
2 Hats (you may be thinking two hats for five days, tad excessive, but I already took out one hat!)
6 Pair’s of socks (you never know when you’ll need a spare pair!)
‘Lady garments'(undies)
5 Jumpers (Can’t be wearing the same one twice when I bought some nice one’s just for this trip!)
3 Pairs of Jeans
2 Pairs of thermal leg wear and tops (Hey I already said I get cold…)
1 Pair of gloves
1 Scarf

Shoes:
1 pair of walking boots (Again we will be doing a lot of walking, duh!)
1 pair of trainers (In the hope that one day it won’t be snowing)

Extras:
Make up bag (To attempt to look pretty)
Jewellery (Everyone needs accessories)
Tissues (I don’t know what will happen at Auschwitz emotion wise)
Camera
Krakow Guidebook (Ok so I’m prepared to some extent)
Important Documents

Ok so that could be without doubt one of the most boring blogs…or if your off to Poland during winter, you know, that could actually have been quite helpful. Anyway at least I’m packed now! Let the Poland adventures begin!

10 I’d love to visit! ✈️

This is going to be a really brief blog, just because I feel like I talk about travelling wayyyy too much. So I’m basically just going to list a place and a reason or two why I want to go.

  1. Rome – The history, and the romance I think the two combine just make it a dream destination.
  2. Berlin – Again the history, mainly the Berlin wall. I think it would just be incredible to see where the divide was created, and of course the museums. Also I wouldn’t mind going around christmas time to go to the christmas markets.
  3. Krakow – I know all of these seem to be linked to history but I’d like to go here because It’s easy to get to Auschwitz, but also I’ve heard the city is beautiful and cheap!
  4. Paris – another city of love (sad I know), but I always planned to go here since I did french at GCSE! And I love pancakes. And I secretly want to know just how big the Eiffel tower is…
  5. Ireland – this one is for a few reasons. It’s partly because if how pretty it looks of P.S I love you, partly because of the titanic museum up in Belfast, partly because i imagine it’s scenery is quite similar to Iceland but with trees and less volcano’s and partly because I mean the Irish accent…come on!
  6. Miami – one thing you’ll be pleased to know is that this is in no way history related. This trip would basically be for the sun and adventure…and by adventure I partly mean rollerblading along the beach boardwalk…because you know…why not!
  7. Canada – basically when my granddad was in the RAF he was based here for a while, so it’d be nice to see some of the things that he saw while he was there.
  8. Budapest – I honestly just think it would be interesting to see the culture of this place, on photo’s it looks incredible!
  9. Rio – this would mainly be for the carnival, it just looks amazing!..a once in a lifetime experience as some would say.
  10. Maldives – does this really need a reason? I mean haven’t you ever seen a photo? 😮 (If you haven’t there’s one linked to this post!

Well that’s my brief list…where would you like to travel to the most?

Me before you…

I’m a sucker for a love story. As soon as I saw the trailer for this film, I was hooked. I knew I had to see it…and today was that day. As someone who is in love with love stories you have to get your priorities in order. Now the first thing you have to work out is if its going to be upsetting in parts. If it is, you need to choose your company wisely. After all you do NOT want to go with someone who has never seen you cry before. This means this is defiantly not a film for first dates…unless of course they are ‘into’ sweaty, blotchy, crying women…in which case run away before you guarantee a second date they may be a bit too weird. So grab any of your girlfriends, get to the cinema, and be ready to fall in love, have your heartbroken and feel the need to live your life fuller than ever…all in the space of an hour and fifty.

If there’s anything that this film gives to you, it’s courage. Courage to live your life, fall in love again, explore the world, and most importantly take chances…or at least that’s what I got from it. Everything about this film for me was perfect from the story line to the director and especially the actors, it was just perfect. The performances given by Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin were amazing! The belief and passion in their eyes for each other was remarkable, even that was enough to make anyone believe in the story. Maybe even a little bit too much…now the only thing the women who have watched this film need is for it to happen in real life.

Life means hope…

“There should be no boundaries to human endeavour. We are all different. However bad life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. While there is life, there is hope.”

– Stephen Hawking

I think this quote is brilliant. Stephen Hawking is such an inspirational man for so many reasons, but for me personally this quote alone speaks volumes. We should always have hope. Hope for many of us, is what keeps us going in the darkest of times. We all go through rough patches, but as long as you have hope in something, even if it’s just one thing…you can get through it. Hope that you’ll find a new love, hope that you’ll eventually find a career that’s right for you, or even hope that you’ll find yourself after becoming lost in the world. It’s only when you lose hope in everything, that’s worrying…

We also have to remember that everyone is different. What’s right for one person, won’t necessarily be right for everyone. So we shouldn’t be disheartened by not being able to accomplish things in the same amount of time as our friends or peers. Everyone has their own path with their own timing. And if you ever get lost due to circumstance or even emotions than be brave enough to make a new path, others may even follow. Basically don’t lose hope, it will be there when no one else is. Have hope, and you will find your way to your success.

Innovation over Creativity

“Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing new things.”

— Theodore Levitt

In my opinion I think I’m quite creative. I’m creative in the sense I can make things, write things and maybe even see things others wouldn’t. However what I do lack majority of the time is Innovation. You see, I may notice opportunities where creativity is needed but then I fail to act upon them. So to state the obvious it holds me back…quite a lot.

I’m still trying to work on my new years resolutions and one of them was to improve myself. I’ve always thought that the first step to improvement was noticing the issues and this is one of them. Soooooo now I just need to work on it.  In the next few months I hope to start my own YouTube channel, I already have the layout for it and also some video ideas. But there’s one thing stopping me. What to upload for my first video?

I had a couple of ideas, one of them being a thirty-second video of me pretending to do a tutorial of how to eat a starburst with a funny accent, but then my mind starts thinking. What will people think? This will be their first impression of me, and I don’t want to mess up already. Ahh the issues of having a woman brain.

Overall I just want to start doing things, not just dreaming of them. So I think I’m just going to set a deadline to upload the first video and go from there. If all else fails the first videos that go up will be vlogs from my second trip to Iceland. I’ll just have to see how it goes…fingers crossed.

Eczema VS Sun-beds

So I’ve suffered from eczema since I was born. As I got older it seemed to of got more and more controllable, to the point where it was just seasonal and only really became visible in winter due to the sudden change of climate. However this year it doesn’t seem to be going away, and nothing seems to be helping clear it up.

Winter has come and gone and by March my skin would usually of gone back to its normal self. But for some reason this year it just won’t budge. I feel like I’ve tried everything. Different moistursers, steroid creams, bath ointments, and many more treatments. So like with any question I can’t answer, I took to the internet. There was suggestion, after suggestion but the one that caught my eye was to try using a sun-bed.

Now I know the risks of using a sun-bed…but due to my eczema mainly being due to the climate, and me feeling like I’m out of options I thought I should give it a go. So far I’ve only had 4 sessions, each of 6 minutes. But I honestly think it is beginning to help. My skin feels better and definitely looks better with the red patches disappearing, giving me a bit more self-confidence (because let’s be honest having people stare at you, and wonder why you look like a human leopard isn’t exactly a confidence booster). I mean I’m in no way getting a ‘great’ tan from this as I still look quite pale, but as long as my eczema is getting better I don’t mind.

Just as a side note this isn’t a long-term treatment at all and as soon as I feel happy that majority of it has cleared up, I will stop using the sun-beds. Anyway I’ll keep you updated, feel free to give me any feedback or even any suggestions if you or anyone you know struggles with eczema and what they use to clear it up.

To die in a dream…

A few nights ago…I had a dream.

Now unlike majority of my dreams, this one had a historical background… It was set in Nazi Germany. Now, I love history but the bad thing about this, was that I was a Jew.

The dream began underground, in a similar setting to the London Underground except it was darker and unkept. I was surrounded by loads of other Jews, all of different ages showing a range of emotions. We began being led to what seemed to be two elevator shafts in which groups of Jews were being crammed into. Once we were in the lift we were then made to watch a propaganda movie to distract us, while the lift either moved upwards to a few more days of freedom or down to a dreaded gas chamber.

While waiting anxiously, the propaganda film came to an end and the lift doors began to open. Thankfully the lift had gone up to ‘freedom’, we all scuttled out like rats in a sewer, but the worst was not over. We followed the damp corridor down towards the exit, when from the distance I noticed that the next section, which was similar to airport security where the Nazi’s required a barcode which was imbedded into the skin of Jews.

I looked down at my arms, searching for a barcode. I couldn’t find one, I began to panic thinking that I would never escape back out into the real world without one. I  looked around to see if anyone could help me to get a barcode, failing that I began to run searching for an alternate exit…and that’s when I realised I was beginning to be chased by Nazi’s with guns trying to shoot me.

In that moment I then realised that I was in a dream…but I couldn’t wake myself up and bring myself out of it. I began to think to myself, what if i get shot right now? What if I die and can’t return back to reality. What if my body goes into some sort of coma due to my mind being killed in my imagination? Is that even possible?

All I know is that dreams are weird, and when they get weird my thought process gets weird… nevertheless I still enjoy dreaming…
