Single on Valentine’s¬†

Ok so Valentine’s Day is upon us, and although this is a day/evening for couple’s to celebrate romances old and new…this post is mainly for all the single people out there.

Now even though we’re single, there are still ways we can celebrate Valentine’s Day alone..and the chances are that when it gets to the end of the night, we are probably feeling a hell of a lot more satisfied and relaxed than a lot of couple’s will out there. So to make it simple this is my guide to kick ass on Valentine’s Day! Just as a disclaimer I am no expert at being single, but I do know how to have a great night in…so let’s get started with my way to be single on Valentine’s day.

Ok first things first FOOD. I love food and the perks of being single is that you can eat whatever the heck you want, without having to consider anyone else likes or dislikes. Pizza, Nandos, Chinese, Curry…the possibilities are endless. Hey even if you can choose, you could just have a bit of everything. All to yourself. Another great reason for being single is that you don’t have to share with anyone! I could have Ice cream with pancakes for dessert and I could eat it all with no distractions. PERFECT!

The next thing on my agenda after I get food sorted is down time. You want to be relaxed and comfy obviously. So take a bath, light some candles, get a glass of wine (or whatever you like to drink) and just relax. No need to think or worry about what you need to do, or keeping anyone else happy. Just focus on you. Then after you’ve turned into a wrinkly prune get out of the bath and into the fluffiest, most unsexy pyjama’s you have and snuggle up on the sofa.

Onto number three, now by this point in a relationship you’d either be arguing or getting ‘down to business’, sooo let’s grab our hot buff celebrity crush and throw on a romcom. Filled with highs and lows including arguments, conflict, comedy, upset, nudity, and of course sex. What more could you want from entertainment on a night in alone? Basic but brilliant. On a different note if your not into films, why not read a book or even hop onto the Xbox and play a bit of Fallout 4 for that survivor/defender inside of you.

Ok so the night is coming to a end now…but maybe your feeling a bit unfulfilled still? wondering what to do with yourself before bed? How about….some internet shopping! Maybe you saw a top or a dress you wanted last time you went shopping, or even just fancy a little pick me up. The internet is there! With deals, and offers and overall pretty things to buy. So why not? Then after you can relax into a nice warm bed (with your electric blanket) and drift of into a peaceful sleep.

And there you have it! The day is over and you can go back to your everyday life, with the blissful memory of having a nice relaxing valentines with your one true love (you)! Anyway that’s just my perfect day. Feel free to leave me any comments or feedback about have you’d spend your Valentine’s day evening and I hope you kick ass.

Bag Must Haves!

I’ve never been one of these girls that takes a bag everywhere with me, but nowadays it seems to be happening more and more. To the extent that I’m over prepared for any trip (even just to the shops). So I thought I’d do a ‘bag must haves’ blog…because why not. We may as well start off the year prepared, even if we don’t end it that way. Just as a little insight into women though, girls will always struggle when it comes to bags, mainly because of the size of them. Too small and we can’t fit anything in it, too big and you can’t find anything that’s in it. Anyway I’ll get on with it.

Item number 1: A purse. How would we spend money without this? Obviously we need this with us, shopping is what we do best…unless your trying your to avoid spending money at all costs…in which case leave it at home!

Item number 2: Keys. House keys, car keys, window keys (trust me they get everywhere). You need keys…unless you want your house robbed which you know some people might.

Item number 3: Hand cream. Because I have eczema I need to keep my skin moisturised and when I go out in the cold, my hands get the most damaged. The hand cream I have in my bag at the minute is the Soap and Glory hand food, which seems to be working.

Item number 4: A Diary. A lot of people don’t understand why I carry this around when I have a phone to put all my dates on…but anyone with a iPhone will understand how quickly the battery can go down. So why not go back to the olden ways and write it down instead?

Item number 5: Hand Sanitiser. Travelling, shopping, eating, there’s always germs,so why not.

Item number 6: Gum. Sometimes we need a bit of a refresher, so I always carry it around. Plus as soon as someone see’s it they want a piece. I normally have a pack in my car and people think its a free refreshment as if its a service I provide…safe to say it’s gone within a week.

Item number 7: A pen. You never know when you’ll need to write something down. Plus I mean I can’t carry a diary around without having a pen…that would just be silly.

Item number 8: Ivan the iPod. Everyone needs a bit of music in there life. Carrying that around allows you to escape when the world gets a bit much too. (Here’s a link for those who don’t know who Ivan is) Ivan the iPod Blog.

Item number 9: A thousand loyalty cards. We all collect theses, even for places we’ll just visit once in the hope we might return there someday and eventually have enough stamps for a free coffee.

Item number 10: Tampons. Come on, let’s all be adults here. Women bleed…better to have them and not need them. Even if they are a luxury item ūüėČ

I’m sure over time it will just get more and more items in it…many useless. But that’s what women do ūüôā

ūüĆüChristmas AppsūüĆü

As soon as the end of November approaches, I always without fail start to prepare my phone for December. Whether that’s just by changing the wallpapers, downloading a christmas countdown or even christmas games. So this is my lists of my top Christmas Apps this year for IOS.

  1. Advent 2015 – 25 Days of Christmas by appChocolate: This is just your basic Advent Calendar in App form. Everyday they offer you a new christmas game to download and enjoy.
  2. Christmas Countdown 2015 by UAB Target Works: A simple countdown with the added feature of a daily quote, plus you can also have it as a widget on your down bar so you don’t even have to go into the app to see the countdown.
  3. Christmas Wallpapers by Tick Tock Apps: This has a variety of christmas backgrounds to suit everyone’s needs during the festive season. Simple and brilliant.
  4. Pintrest by Pintrest, Inc: Now I know this isn’t just restricted to Christmas time, but it’s such a brilliant app for this time of year. If your struggling to know what to buy for that distant relative, or even just want to do some Christmas DIY or baking this app has it all. (It can even teach you how to make decorations).
  5. Manage Christmas by Simon North: This is by far my favourite app this year. You can make a list of who you need to buy for, the budget you want to keep, what you’ve bought, what you need. IT’s just brilliant, especially if your on a budget!
  6. Smashy Santa by Clive Smith: This is just a christmas game where you have to safely get santa across the roads, and streams without getting him killed. Fun but also annoying at the same time.
  7. Charades! Free by FatChicken Studios: We all know what charades is, this is just a digital version to play with all the family around christmas. Funny and no tidying away after the game is finished (or after you’ve had a few drinks).
  8. Netflix by Netflix, Inc: We all have a need for christmas films! This is just a great app that holds some of your festive favourites. For example; Home Alone, A Christmas Carol, The Santa Clause, and Jingle All The Way. Enjoy!
  9. Youtube by Google, Inc: This is just the same as pointers but in video form really. There’s DIY, christmas make up tutorials, gift ideas, and of course your favourite Youtuber’s. What more could you want?

There’s only one App missing from my collection and that’s the 12 Days of Christmas/Gifts App. This hasn’t been around for the last two years, but it was a great app with provided you with songs, films and apps to download on 12 days in December. I wish it was brought back. Anyway that’s just a few of my favourite’s, feel free to leave me a comment with your favourite apps for this time of the year :).

Pet Peeves!

There are many things in this life that I consider a pet peeve, however I won’t go into detail over them all. Otherwise we’d be here forever…so without further ado I give you my top 3 pet peeves.

  1. Judging others/Narrow Mindedness – this mainly focuses on hidden illnesses however it can be applied to other things. If someone walks different or acts differently or even messes up in a simple task. Think twice before you judge them. You don’t know if they have something wrong with them, or even if they’re just having a shit day, you don’t know. So think twice before you say something or even think about it, because one day you may be in a similar position and you might wish for the people around you to be a bit more considerate.
  2. Annoying People – these are the people who do things, just because they can and they know it will piss you off. These people are brilliant. One example of this oh so brilliant behaviour is when your standing in queue waiting to be served, and someone comes behind you and stands so close to (invading personal space) so that you move forward…because in their mind that’s going to get them served faster?! This also applies if your in a car, when they  keep moving closer and closer to you. (Between you and me sometimes I actually wish they would move too far and go into my car just so I can whine at them…but this is only on a bad days).
  3. Rudeness – this is a generalised one. I like to call these people the ‘mood crushers’. These are people I meet a lot, due to working in a cafe. And sometimes it seems like they just feel the need to inflict sadness and annoyance on everyone. Pushing, complaining, being ignorant, ahh there’s so many options.

This is quite a negative blog post so I won’t go on anymore, but those are my three biggest pet peeves, and have you noticed what they have in common? People. I think this is why I like animals more…

Foundation…

Now normally I love shopping. However one thing I actually hate to buy is… foundation. There’s just so many choices, all for different skins types, in a mass variety of shades and colours, and majority of them costing quite a bit to a girl who can only get part time jobs (not through choice).

Now I think a lot of guys reading this could believe there’s a simple solution to this problem. Just don’t buy it! But there’s so many reasons why we feel we must. For example to make ourselves feel better. I mean most days majority of women can’t just roll out of bed and look ‘hot as hell’. For some of us it takes a little bit more than that.

Anyway getting back into what I was talking about, the whole process of finding a brand new foundation after deciding you fancy a change from your ‘normal’ foundation is just all in all stressful. Yes you can do research before going to the shops, because after all the internet is packed full of blog reviews, vlog reviews and even just shop reviews. But that just isn’t enough! Reading a review online and having the product at hand are two completely different things. I mean I do the swab test (on the back of my hand) and sometimes even that’s not helpful. It’s as if the product changes from the time you put it on the back of your hand, go to purchase it, and then get it home! Before you know it that’s ¬£9 you’ve wasted on a product you hate.

Am I the only on who has this thought process? Is there no solution to this nightmare….or am I just being a massive girl?

Ughhh! *exhales* Rant over!

Mitch Albom

At the start of this year I was trying to escape a rough patch. During this time I would find myself constantly shopping. The reason for this is not clear. As while I was going through this patch, the last thing I really wanted was to be around people. Which doesn’t make sense as shops are obviously always full of people. Unless of course I broke in at night…which is something I would never consider doing as I’d probably end up in jail, with no get out jail free card. [slight tangent…]

Anyway one of the shops I’d mostly find myself in (other than clothes shops) was book shops. Maybe this was so I could escape the¬†noise of other shops for a while, and give myself a little break. Anyhow as I was looking on one of the “best books of the week” tables. I noticed the title ‘The First Five People You Meet In Heaven’ by Mitch Albom. Now for me personally¬†I’ve never been religious. I was never christened or baptised, nor never attended church unless it was compulsory by my primary school. However I have always been open to the idea of a place we go to¬†when we die, not necessarily¬†heaven or hell but a place.

This has to be one of the best books I think I’ve ever had the pleasure¬†of¬†reading. It was so inspiring and uplifting. If anything it gave me guidance without meaning to. Since then I have been hooked on his books. I feel that each of Mitch Albom’s books teaches me something new. A new life lesson to support my own life journey. I personally think everyone could find something within Mitch Albom’s books. So therefore I recommend them to everyone. Everyone and anyone who stumbles across this post. Mitch Albom is a wise and inspirational writer and I think everyone could do with a bit of Mitch in their life.

“Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it.” – Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie.
